Tricks of the Trade-In

What are car wholesalers looking for?

Essentially, wholesalers and car dealers are looking for a car with great service history that comes with a complete service history stamped in logbooks. They are also looking for cars that have fair wear and tear – it’s normal for cars that are slightly older to have a few signs of aging (we all have it), however they will usually reduce the trade-in price for dents, low grip tyres and poor service history.

Learning the lingo

Wholesalers use the term ‘spend’ when pricing a car. Also, what you might not always know is they’ll want to know what spend has been put towards the car. In other words: what it will cost for them to complete a roadworthy check and to fix any panel work pre-sale, so someone gets to love your old car as much as you did.

How to find the best deal for your trade-in

With all of this in mind, it can sometimes come as a shock when your old car is valued less than you originally thought. Rest assured though, we work with reasonable people who will identify why your trade-in is worth, and you are under no obligation to sell via us. FliCAR will also provide you with some great tips on how to maintain and keep your new purchase in great shape to sell it next time.
